We've been "in business" for almost a year. But starting a farm is one expense after another. Cows. Chickens. Feed. Chickens. Feed. Cows. Feed. Tractors, Feed. Plants. Feed. You get the idea right?
Today, we went to our first farmers market. It wasn't planned... we were at Tractor Supply yesterday, picking up, what else? Feed. When Vicky, the manager told us about today's market. We decided to go. No booth fees, no added expense. Just the chance to get some experience.
We were the only booth.
But in the first hour, we sold 2 goats, 22 chickens, and 8 dozen eggs. Not bad our first day!
We let the kids handle the egg sales, and paid them a percentage of the profit. They were a little hesitant to holler out to passers by, but I think they'll come around!
